Guardian to centuries old tradition of Murano’s glass art, the Abate Zanetti Glass School intends to promote Murano as a focal point of Glass art, place where families hand down, from generation to generation, secrets and technical skills, and through its masters spreading the passion and the artistic high value, in comparison with the international reality.

The School follows the traditional footsteps of one of the most historic institutions of glass in Murano, the Drawing School for Murano glassworkers, which was established in 1862 by the abbott Vincenzo Zanetti.
The building, originally built in the 1930’s, is now restored to perfection keeping the original character intact. It is equipped with big rooms for facilities, a hall for lectures, garden, library, internet-point with wi-fi, and cafeteria.

The Abate Zanetti Glass School is offered as an educational and research centre, born from Murano’s tradition, but open to the entire world.
The School, open all year round, offers retraining courses, courses in collaboration with professional associations and educational institutions, Italian and international, and workshops on different levels of specific glass techniques. Practical courses in glassblowing, lampworking, stained glass and fusing are offered.
On the other side interesting initiatives take place enhancing the value of the School, such as exhibitions on contemporary glass, meetings and creative workshops.
